as a summer breeze
caresses her face
a part of her
is swept away
with the whispers
of the wind
like a thousand wishes
from a dandelion
she hopes they lead her
back to you

I painted you a summer
in a pretty shade of orange
where time
comes in waves
and breaks 
the silence of aurora
as dreams are tucked away
in our pockets
and the sun
is the perfect hue of yellow
upon this canvas
I compose
all the pieces of me
inside this picture-perfect frame

all that makes 
my flesh and bones
was once an element 
of something more
you and I
feel like a spectral dream
where we fell in love
in the quiet moments
that were gone 
before we even realized
they were there

if you listen closely 
to the gentle echoing
inside the spaces
between my words 
you’ll find me there
writing love letters
into the universe 
hoping they find their way
to you 
and stitch themselves
to your heart
for you to read always

she feels like a novel 
thinking of all the people
who have stumbled 
upon her story
thumbed through certain pages 
and closed it 
before it was even finished
but you
you read every letter
every line
every chapter
and even go back
to read it again

meet in a field
of wildflowers
where the stars
are so beautiful
it makes our souls ache
a place we live
beyond the edge of time
within the space 
of you and I
this is where I want to stay
where I am free
and we exist
only in each other
