gold spills low
across the tide
where sea foam
catches the dying light
and turns to liquid embers
the sky
a canvas stretched thin
between twilight blue
and burning orange
brushed with wild
feathered clouds
at the edge of the world
the ocean lifts the sun
from its sleeping horizon
in a soft rushing whisper
it’s as if the morning itself
cannot help but remind
me of you
because everything beautiful
always does
the ending is adorable ❤
Thank you!

Emerson tells us “If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore; and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God which had been shown! But every night come out these envoys of beauty, and light the universe with their admonishing smile.”
The sunrise…the sunset…the shoreline…the breaking waves…the surf…the horizon…the clouds…they all appear everyday and can very easily be taken for granted. Just because nature gives of herself everyday, Emerson encourages us to appreciate her. And tell her.
You have observed an ordinary scene (captured in an extraordinary photo showing your skilled and keen photographic eye), but rather than take it for granted, you honor it. You savor it. You appreciate it. What a beautiful lesson in perspective taught by a beautiful person.
I hope you continue to see beauty that reminds you of the one you love. And I hope your beauty and artistry are never taken for granted.
This comment made my day; thank you for taking the time to share such beautiful words.
Emerson’s quote is one of those passages that stops you in your tracks. It’s a gentle call to awareness, reminding us how easily the mind normalizes the extraordinary simply because it arrives on a schedule. We become accustomed to the daily miracles of the world, the light shifting over the horizon, the rhythm of the waves, the quiet arrival of dusk, just because they show up faithfully every morning and evening.
For me, photography is the tool that forces me to pause that routine. Lifting the camera is an act of presence; it demands that I stop moving past a scene and instead truly be in it, honoring the subtle magic that might otherwise slip by unnoticed.
Your kind words about my photographic eye and perspective mean the world to me. Beyond that, I’m deeply moved by your gentle wishes for my life and art. Thank you for seeing the heart and emotion behind the image, and for bringing such warmth, eloquence, and beauty here for me.
What? You captured this photo? So amazing and a lovely poem, too.
Yes, I sure did! Thank you, Hazel 🌷❤️
