I know each line of your face
like verses in a poem
I’ve memorized by heart
the gentle curve where laughter lives
the faint crease of past storms
weathered in silence
the soft trace time has dared
to leave near your eyes
not as a thief but as an artist
each line is a map
of joy
of ache
of sleepless wonder
I’ve traced them with my eyes
a thousand times
and still they catch me off guard
like a favorite song played
slow and low in the dark
to know your face
is to know a story
without needing words
a story that keeps unfolding
even when you’re still
After reading this beautiful poem, I’m reminded of the following movie quote:
“Our eyes reflect our lives, don’t they?” – Praetor Shinzon (Star Trek: Nemesis)
One of Tom Hardy’s early roles. The movie itself was a box office flop, but gained considerable fanfare as the years went by. Ultimately, Star Trek: Picard season 3 repaired the mess Nemesis left behind. lol
Oh I love that quote! I remember Star Trek from back in the day (never was a fan) and never saw the movie. How are YOU Braden?
I’m doing ok. Playing catch up at work has made me tired. Been a long year this week. LOL! How are you doing my dear Jennifer?
“Been a long year this week” LOL I can so relate to this! You’re not alone there! I’m doing okay too, it really has been a long week though. Have you moved from your AMAZING office yet?
Not yet. We are scheduled to move mid August. 😒
Continue to enjoy that view until then!
Will do!! Been so busy the last few days I haven’t had a chance to pause to take a pic. 🤗

Ohmigosh, I just love this poem!!!!!!!!!! We just celebrated another anniversary that’s exactly what I wanted to write to Cam. My version was pathetic, by comparison. You, my love, are an absolute genius with words. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us. xx
Oh gosh, what a beautiful comment. Happy anniversary to you both, I hope it was a wonderful one. Thank you for being so wonderful!
This is absolutely beautiful. You have such a way of making ordinary things feel profound without trying too hard. I loved every word of this. Thank you for sharing your heart with us.
Awww, girl. Thank you for being here with me. Now that I know you, I wouldn’t want to do this without you!
Good because you’re stuck with me now 😂
Happily too! Love you girl!
well penned~
Thank you
Great work, especially the opening three lines.
Thank you so very much 🙂
Awesome
Thank you!
You’re welcome 🙂
Oh the love that is in these lines is felt. It’s palpable. It’s real. The sentiment about which you wrote invokes a song to mind…
“But I can see
When the light starts to fade
The day is done
And your smile has gone away
Let me raise you up
Let me be your love”
My best friend shared that song with me. I cherish it.
Now I cherish your poem as it walks hand in hand in my heart with this song. And now I will never let go of this hand.
Thank you so much for sharing that song from your best friend. I believe I know that song and it’s so beautiful. Thank you for your comment and thoughts, I always look forward to them. Also, let me share some of my favorite lyrics with you.
“With my feet upon the ground I lose myself
Between the sounds and open wide to suck it in
I feel it move across my skin
I’m reaching up and reaching out
I’m reaching for the random or whatever will bewilder me
Whatever will bewilder me
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one’s been
We’ll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one’s been”
That feels like, ” i know you too well.” Beautiful poem, Jen
Thank you, Hazel ❤️
