standing at the window she reads their love letters to the universe an infinite reflection of who she was staring back at her as the colors of the moon paint a luminous mural across the room the thought of him comes flooding back through her like it was just yesterday and the goodbye hurts just the same a promise once made now just a bitter-sweet memory
lay me down and open me like your favorite book waiting to be read tracing over the lines of my novel memorizing every word there’s something about the way you slide your fingers between my pages that makes my stories come alive

I stare at these old memories packed away inside broken picture frames all the years of feeling unloved flood my veins chronic hate fills these eyes and I grow cold as ice each time I stare intently inside at the pain of yesterday it somehow always states the case where I’m the one to blame nothing will ever feel the same until I drive out this hate and cast this poison away
inside another lifetime I’m remembering who you are though every smile every laugh every fiber of you feels so familiar I’ve loved you before a thousand years ago in another space inside this sphere in some other existence there was you and I we were once before
she had this thing about her where sunlight lived beneath her skin aged postcards and love letters were written upon her bones in the most delicate ink and chasing daydreams was her favorite thing to do because it always leads her back to him
unspoken moments printed ink-stained and packed away
reminders of a life that use to be where the silence feels so loud within the corners of our story and time seems to freeze the memories that still remain inside the frame of a polaroid
I hope you find pieces of me in the lyrics of your favorite song inside the lines of your favorite book or in the temporary moments of fleeting happiness but most of all I hope you find me in the silence of the night when you close your eyes and dream
with every second that passes I wish I could hear the sound of your breath as you whisper your love to me and feel your voice laying gently upon the layers of my skin I wish you knew how deeply you are etched into my bones and that every poem that flows from my fingers will find a way to you in every single lifetime this universe holds
