Everywhere you are

your atoms are the essence
of every scattered dandelion seed
I have ever blown into the wind

I want you alive
in every strange corner
of the world
in the warmth
that settles against my skin
on summer afternoons
in the gold
that spills across the grass
just before evening
in the tiny white parachutes
lifting from a dandelion
when I breathe against them
and watch them disappear

because maybe
they aren’t disappearing
maybe they’re carrying you
your atoms are everywhere I look
threaded through the flowers
sleeping beneath the soil
floating through the air
between my fingers

and maybe mine
are somewhere inside you too
maybe when you laugh
some part of me is already there
a molecule of my existence
moving through your lungs
becoming breath
becoming warmth
becoming you

I like thinking
that we’re not as separate
as we pretend to be
that the space between us
is only an illusion
made by distance
and skin
because everything is borrowed
from everything else
the stars gave us
the elements in our bones
the earth gave us
the minerals in our blood
the wind carries
pieces of flowers
from one field into another
and somehow
out of all the infinite ways
the universe
could have arranged itself
it made you
it made me

so I blow the dandelion
and watch its seeds rise
not as wishes
but as little pieces
of the same universe
that made you

  1. This poem doesn’t just speak—it settles into the chest and stays there. The way it holds the ordinary miracle of a dandelion and turns it into proof that we are already inside each other… that the space between two people is only the softest kind of illusion… it feels like someone finally put language to something the heart has always known but never quite named.
“Maybe when you laugh / some part of me is already there.”
That line alone is enough to make a person quiet for a long time.
And it whispers something even deeper: that true love does not need constant nearness to remain whole. Distance may stretch the skin of the world between two people, but it cannot thin what is already shared—atoms, breath, memory, the quiet certainty that the same universe that made you also made me. Real love keeps the connection alive not by erasing the miles, but by turning them into something sacred: a reminder that what is true does not fade simply because it cannot always be touched.
Furthermore, the true love I feel has made all other flowers disappear. It’s only her. Her as the the only dandelion I see in a field of 8 billion. Her. Alone. Singular.
Thank you for writing something that makes the universe feel less lonely, and love feel less fragile.

    • Reading your response felt like watching my own words travel out into the world and return to me, carrying even more light. You didn’t just read the poem; you inhabited it, translating its quietest places into something undeniably beautiful of your own.

The way you spoke about distance, how it can stretch the skin of the world without thinning what is already shared, put a voice to the very heart of why I wrote those lines. And your image of seeing her as a single dandelion among eight billion… wow, that is absolute poetry. It is rare and humbling to have a reader meet a piece of work at its exact frequency and offer back such profound grace.

Thank you for reading with such an open, gentle heart, for sharing a piece of your own love story here, and for giving me the priceless gift of knowing the universe feels a little less lonely today, because of you.

  3. The Creative Chic, ‘your atoms are everywhere I look’ yes. The dandelion seeds carrying pieces of someone you love through the world. That’s not just beautiful science; it’s devotion. 💙
