I watched her fold the fabric
neatly and gather it gently
under my peaceful face
I remember her hands
comfortable and tender
tucking me away in bed
telling me stories
of Kings and Queens
and a land far far away
the way her mouth would smile
as she reached the end
of the fairytale
I remember the softness
of her voice
as whispers of goodnight
filled my sleepy head
and as I drift off to dream
that’s how I’ll remember her
in the quietness of the silence
that’s where she will live
for eternity
❤️
I love you M ❤
I love you too ❤️
Really really nice CC! Loved it!!
Thank you, SSW. I appreciate you ❤
CC —if I may— I love this. The last few lines in particular are so touching … and tho my Mum has passed not yet into death, but dementia, they struck a vibrant chord.
Thank you so very much. This writing just came to me last night, though my mom is still with me. I’m sorry, as I know how incredibly brutal dementia is. I’m here if you should need a shoulder to lean on.
Holy cow is this beautiful. I hope this is how my kids one day remember me.
Thank you so much, Nicole. I hope they do too sweet friend!
Such a comfy poem in the beginning, with a touching end. I can’t say sad, because that doesn’t do it justice. Perhaps melancholy, or bittersweet, with nostalgic… with a drop of love. 🙏🤍
Ahh, what a beautiful and thoughtful comment. Thank you so much for your sweet words ❤️
Very very beautiful Jennifer. That’s a great way to remember someone. It’s amazing how our moms have such an impact on our lives. So poignant too.
