Poetry

poetry found me
in the middle of a lonely night
not as a storm breaking
but as a breath
I didn’t know I was holding

it slipped between the noise
named things I had only felt
as shadows pressing
against my ribs

before it
I lived in fragments
untranslated days
nights that spoke in static

then came the lines
breaking me open
without breaking me
teaching my tongue
the shape of truth

now I walk differently
listening for the music
in ordinary air
carrying whole worlds
in the small space of a sentence

poetry did not change the world
but
it changed the way I belong to it

  1. This honestly stopped me in my tracks. The way you wrote this is just… stunning. You have such a quiet, powerful way of saying things. This really moved me.

  2. This pretty much perfectly described in my subjective experience how poetry surfaced into my life. This is absolutely one of your top all timers! I hope people really give this one the love it deserves! ❤️

  3. To have poetry as an outlet that allows one to feel heard is an absolute gift. Emerson tells us, “Build, therefore, your own world.”

The worlds you build with your words are poignant, beautiful, inspiring, charming, and I want to live in them the rest of my life and all the other lifetimes to follow…forever bathed in your “saffron light.”

Thank you for sharing your gift. The romantics of the past, current, and future, are better for reading your works.
