As she
turned off
the old lamp
she caught
a glimpse
of her tired eyes
staring back
from the mirror
her life flashes
before her eyes
lifes regrets
fill her heart
her once
strong words
no longer
carry their weight
as she
closes her eyes
for another long
empty night
the final
cold winter
sets deep within
her bones
Such a deep sense of regret and acquiescence in these lines. Your words fall like the speaker’s eyes. A time filled with regrets can do this. Solemn but beautifully written, CC.
Yes, regret can have this hold at times. Thank you so much, SD
It sure can. You’re welcome, CC.
Haunting. So much emotion. Your poems are great đź’™.
Thank you so very much, Robin!
Wow, this is rich.
So sorry Rhen, I am just now seeing this. Thank you!
No need for apologies at all! You’re most sincerely welcomeđź’•
The pure intensity, and feeling of “what if’s” …. very beautifully written, though sorrowfully so
Thank you so much
